Here’s a taste of The Last Hallow’s Eve:
The lead flowed onto the paper almost by itself. She worked feverishly, committing the vision in her head to the page in quick, bold strokes of her pencil. After a few moments, she seemed to have no control over her own hand, the image forming rapidly and distinctly without effort on her part at all.
The image of Brock Haversham.
His face stared at her from the white page in her lap. The pointed, regal nose, chiselled jawline and high cheekbones were immediately recognizable and more handsome than she’d first thought. How was this possible? She’d seen him just the once, for only a minute or two. The dark orbs of his eyes seemed to come alive under her artistic talent, reflected light dancing within their depths.
Joanna reached for the bottle and drank, feeling the red warmth flow down her throat and spread across her chest. Her breasts felt heavy, and her nipples tight. Odd, that the wine should have this effect. Perhaps some ingredient of the local vintner didn’t agree with her. Or maybe it agreed too much. In any case, she liked it. She took another drink.
She returned to her sketch, attempting to apply more shading to the hairline, but stopped abruptly. The drawing needed nothing more. The strong and masculine face was perfection itself, and as she gazed at it for a long moment, she saw his sensuous lips curl into a smile.
Joanna nearly dropped the pad in astonishment when the lights fizzled and plunged the mansion into darkness.
